We educate and connect the creators to business resources and experts and we share these creations with enthusiastic viewers. We know that in the world of showbusiness, ”If you can’t do Business there is no Show” so we focus on having conversations that deal with the part of filmmaking that makes sure you don’t get fleeced and get paid!

"An Austin based film director, screenwriter and producer. After graduating from the University of Texas, I have worked my way up in the Austin Film Industry, working as a production coordinator, art department coordinator, and production manager for such clients as SXSW, Atmosphere TV and NBC. With years of this valuable hands-on experience in film production in addition to my longtime development as a writer and storyteller, I started Red Herring Productions. To date, our produced projects have included high budget short films THESE HANDS WERE MADE FOR KNOCKN' and UP ON THE HOUSETOP, with several feature films in development.

We were blessed to have Nikki Ackerman of Kitiara Blue Media attend the fest and discuss some of the ins and outs of script writing with us. We are considering putting together a more formal educational course based on her expertise.
"U.S. Army veteran Nikki Ackerman needed an outlet for her own work. She soon discovered that there was a need to help other aspiring screenwriters in her area, or those that had a story but didn’t know how to tell it. Nikki didn’t always dream of opening her own business. However, she has always had a knack for helping others. Evident in her resume. While in Landshtul, Germany awaiting an outpatient procedure, she made up her mind it was time to get on with her education. Despite being a lifelong University of Florida fan, and due to family commitments, she ended up attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). That’s where she discovered screenwriting, thanks to Dr. Dave Jauss, one of her many mentors. After receiving her BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a minor in Film Studies, Nikki decided if she was going to do to grad school it was now or never.
